This bathroom remodel in Camden County, NJ transformed this client’s two aging bathrooms within a residential group home while addressing previously undiscovered roofing, structural, and exterior building envelope issues. The project improved accessibility, safety, durability, and comfort for residents and staff while protecting the long-term integrity of the property.
The project began with the complete demolition of both existing bathrooms, removing outdated fixtures, finishes, tile, drywall, doors, plumbing components, and lighting systems to allow for a full reconstruction. The spaces were taken back to the wall studs and floor framing, creating an opportunity to modernize the bathrooms and enhance accessibility. Additional framing repairs and strategic blocking were installed to support future grab bars and accessibility features.
During demolition, significant water intrusion was uncovered, prompting a broader investigation of the home’s roofing system and exterior walls. The assessment revealed a failed plumbing vent collar and an aging roof that had reached the end of its useful life. As a result, the project expanded to include a full roof replacement, repairs to deteriorated roof sheathing, and the installation of new gutters to better protect the building from future moisture damage.
Further investigation identified water damage within the exterior wall assembly caused by deteriorated asbestos siding and compromised sheathing. A licensed contractor safely removed and disposed of the asbestos siding, replaced damaged sheathing, and installed new vinyl siding to restore the building envelope and prevent future intrusion issues.
Inside the renovated bathrooms, new insulation, moisture-resistant drywall, updated subflooring, exhaust fans, plumbing fixtures, and waterproofing systems were installed to create durable, long-lasting spaces. New tile flooring and wall finishes were added throughout, followed by new vanities, toilets, mirrors, lighting fixtures, and strategically placed grab bars to improve accessibility and safety for residents.

Left Bathroom:

- Installed updated plumbing, shower valve, and a Moen Brcklyn single handle shower system with Magnetix ® Rain shower in brushed nickel.
Right Bathroom:
- Replaced existing bathtub with an American Standard Princeton 60″ enameled steel alcove tub.
- Installed a Moen Brcklyn single handle shower system with Magnetix® Rain shower in brushed nickel.
Both Bathrooms:
- Installed Alpe Graphite Matte 12″ x 24″ porcelain floor and shower wall tile.
- Added a new exhaust fan, prehung interior doors, registers, window blinds, grab bars, vanity, vanity lighting, mirror, and toilet.
